Lithuanian world community

The Lithuanian world community (lit. Pasaulio lietuvių bendruomenė , PLB) is a Lithuanian public, non-profit umbrella organization that foreign lithuanians connects. PLB has units (sub-organizations) in 36 countries. The board consists of the representatives elected by PLB-Seimas. The chairman of the Lithuanian World Youth Association is an ex officio member of the board.

history

On June 14, 1949, Vyriausiojo Lietuvos Išlaisvinimo Komitetas (VLIKas; Supreme Lithuanian Liberation Committee) published the Lithuanian Charter . This established that the Lithuanian world community unites all Lithuanians living outside Lithuania and strives to maintain the life of the Lithuanian nation, its language , culture, customs and traditions and to support the independent Lithuanian state.
