Litzlhof (2006)

The Litzlhof is a building erected in the 16th century as a rural mansion and also formally a village in the municipality of Lendorf in Carinthia . The listed building has been owned by the State of Carinthia since 1908 and houses an agricultural school.

history

The story of the Litzlhof, located on the southern slope of the Hühnersberg, northeast of the village of Pusarnitz - the name means “small farm” from mhdt. lützel = small - can be traced back to the year 1501. The oldest written mention is a few years younger: On May 1st, 1568 the brothers Hans and Christof der Ambtmann zu der Weiden sold their rights to the estate. From then on, the property remained in the possession of the family until 1861, who now called themselves Christian "Litzlhofer" as the first owner. Some of them held positions of regional importance, Adam Litztlhofer, for example, was market judge in Obervellach in 1607 . The last "Litzlhofer" was Eduard von Litzlhofen, who was appointed knight of the Military Maria Theresa Order in 1859 after the Battle of Solferino . He died in 1888 and by that time had long ceased to be the owner of the Litzlhof, which had been sold to Baron Theodor von Aichelburg in 1861.

After a few more changes of ownership, the property finally came into the possession of the State of Carinthia in 1908, which set up an agricultural college there that still exists today. After the acquisition, the former castle was raised and expanded in 1910. The entire facility now includes several buildings.
