Ljubica Marić

Ljubica Marić (born March 18, 1909 in Kragujevac ; † September 17, 2003 in Belgrade ) was a Yugoslav or Serbian composer.

Marić studied composition with Josip Štolcer-Slavenski in Belgrade and composition with Josef Suk and Alois Hába at the Prague Conservatory and conducting with Nikolai Malko . She has been teaching as a lecturer since 1945 and as a professor at the Belgrade Music Academy since 1957. She devoted herself to research into Serbian folk music and early Christian Orthodox church music.

In addition to chamber music works and several cantatas , she composed a Passacaglia for orchestra and a Byzantine Concerto for piano and orchestra.
