Llanfynydd is a small town with 538 inhabitants (2001 census) in Carmarthenshire in Wales . It is close to the Brecon Beacons National Park and the National Botanic Garden of Wales . The main attraction is the old village church. The town's sources of income are tourism and agriculture.

In protest against a wind turbine that was to be set up in Llanfynydd, the place was renamed in July 2004 to “Llanhyfryddawelllehynafolybarcudprindanfygythiadtrienusyrhafnauole”, which translates as: “Quiet beautiful village, a historic place with rare birds threatened by rotor blades become". However, this name is not official.

With 66 letters, this self-chosen place name is a little longer than Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (only 58 letters) and would be the longest place name in Europe with official recognition by the responsible authorities.
