The Lobi Language (also Lobi and Miwa is called) a Gursprache that in Burkina Faso of 286,000 people and in the Ivory Coast is spoken by 156,000 people.

Lobiri is the language of the Lobi ethnic group and is regulated by the Commission of Lobiri ( Commission du lobiri ).

In Burkina Faso, writing is regulated by the sub-commission of the Lobiri of the National Institute for Literacy of Burkina Faso ( Institut national d'alphabétisation du Burkina Faso ). The letter "'w" has been replaced by "ⱳ" in the latest revisions of Lobiri orthography. The crackling sound is transcribed with the apostrophe ʼ. The nasalization is indicated by a tilde over the vowels, the long vowels are indicated by doubling the vowel.
