Loch Affric is a freshwater lake in the Scottish Highlands . It is located in the almost uninhabited Glen Affric valley, about 16 km southwest of the town of Cannich and can only be reached from there via a narrow road.
Loch Affric has the typical elongated shape of a lake created by glaciers in the Ice Age . It is around 4.5 km long, but only around 500 m wide. The lake is fed to the west by the Affric river and drains to the east via some rapids into the reservoir Loch Beinn a 'Mheadhoin . Loch Affric is a popular destination for hikers.
