Loch Maberry is a Scottish freshwater lake . It is located in the Dumfries and Galloway Council Area about 15 kilometers northwest of Newton Stewart . Loch Maberry is a maximum of 1.8 km long and an average of 400 m wide. The lake ultimately drains into the Irish Sea via the River Bladnoch .
The banks of Loch Maberry are completely uninhabited. They are mostly forested, but sometimes also as grass or arable land. The northeast bank of the hole is accessed by the B7027. There are several small, wooded islands in the lake. On the one in the middle of the lake there are still ruins of Loch Maberry Castle , a medieval castle. However, the few remains of the wall of the complex are heavily overgrown by vegetation, so that the ruins can hardly be seen from the bank. Loch Maberry is also a fishing area where pike in particular can be caught.
