A hole punch is a pliers , can be introduced with the holes in a workpiece. For this purpose, one of the two active points in the pliers head is designed as a punch or punch knife and the other as a die.

Punch pliers with punch have i. d. Usually a die with a hole. This design is z. B. common in sheet metal processing.

Hole pliers with punch knives have i. d. Usually a flat die without a hole. This design has z. B. established for processing leather or fabric.

In order to be able to produce holes of different sizes, both punches / cutting knives and sometimes the die are usually variable. In the case of punch pliers with punch, both the punch and the die can be interchangeable; In the case of punch pliers with punch blades, several punch blades are often rotatably attached to the pliers.

A special version of the punch pliers is the conductor pliers .
