Lockstep system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The lockstep system ( English in lockstep , in lockstep ) is a remuneration system in which the remuneration is based on the length of service .

In principle, beginners initially receive the same salary . This is increased year by year (i.e. according to seniority ) up to a maximum level (e.g. reached after ten years). The system is based on the two basic assumptions that all participants contribute equally to its success and that younger participants benefit from the older ones. The lockstep system is traditionally used in German law firms .

On the other hand, there is the service system (“merit-based”) that is particularly common in Anglo-American law firms, whereby service does not simply have to mean turnover , but can also refer to the acquisition of clients or publications .
