Logogriph

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Logogriph ( Greek λόγος logos , German 'word, reason' and γρίφος griphos , German 'Fischernetz, Rätsel' ) are letters or word games in which other words and meanings are created by adding, removing or exchanging letters. From the word enemy , for example, by omitting one letter each, the words fine (-d), a (-f), in (-e) emerge . These word games are often designed in puzzle or verse form or provided with images for the starting terms. A short example from Friedrich Schleiermacher :

Take me a minute,
so I'll stay a minute

Wanted is the monument that without the nu the moment is.
