history

In 1895 the mayor of Roudnice nad Labem applied for the construction of a local railway from Raudnitz to Hospozín.

On January 11, 1898, Mr. Wenzel Maly in Lipkowitz, in association with the mayor Erwin Špindler, the pharmacist Ferdinand Zinke and the engineer Alois Samohrd, was granted the concession to build and operate a standard-gauge local train from the Raudnitz station of the Austrian. -ung. State Railway Company to Hospozin for connection to the Zlonitz – Hospozin line of the Imperial and Royal State Railways ”. Part of the concession was the condition that construction of the line should begin immediately and be completed within two years. The duration of the concession was set for a total of 90 years from the date on which the concession was granted.

The line was opened on November 2, 1900.

The operation was carried out by the kk Austrian State Railways (kkStB) on behalf of the Raudnitz – Hospozín local railway . After the First World War, the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD took the place of the kkStB .

On January 1, 1925, the Raudnitz – Hospozín local railway was nationalized by law and the line was integrated into the ČSD network.

Locomotives

Initially, the company was operated with rented vehicles from the kkStB 97 and kkStB 59 series . Although the management of the local railway made several applications to buy the vehicles, it did not materialize. In 1907 the kkStB procured two locomotives of the 178 series with the numbers 178.56 and 178.57 on behalf of the Raudnitz – Hospozín local railway .

The ČSD gave the locomotives the numbers 422.029 and 422.030 in 1925. The 422.030 was taken out of service in 1954 and sold to the Třinec iron works (Třinecké železárny). The 422.029, on the other hand, did not leave the ČSD portfolio until 1965.
