The Schwarzenau – Zwettl local railway was a local railway company in Austria. She was the owner of the Schwarzenau – Martinsberg-Gutenbrunn railway and - after acquiring the Schwarzenau – Waidhofen local railway - the Thayatalbahn from Schwarzenau to Zlabings . The Schwarzenau – Zwettl local railway was nationalized on January 1, 1941.

The “Aktiengesellschaft Localbahn Schwarzenau – Zwettl” was founded on October 8, 1895 in Vienna on the initiative of the City of Zwettl.

Share issues

In 1896, 2,245 shares with a nominal value of 200 guilders were issued:

  • Sparkasse Zwettl - 200,000 guilders - 1,000 shares
  • Individuals - 161,000 guilders - 805 shares
  • Province of Lower Austria - 88,000 guilders - 440 shares
