history

The Olympians were founded in 1983 as Streatham Olympians . The name Olympians goes back to the name of a training hall in Streatham, in which the founding members trained regularly.

The Olympians competed in the American Football League United Kingdom (AFLUK) in 1985, one of two leagues that were formed that year. In the play-offs they surprisingly eliminated the favorites Birmingham Bulls with a 13:12 win. After a loss in the final against the London Ravens , the Olympians ended their first season with a runner-up.
