Long Point (Ontario)

Long Point is a sandy strip of land in the northern part of Lake Erie . This belongs to Norfolk County in the Canadian province of Ontario . The strip of land is about 40 km long and up to a kilometer wide.

The strip of land is the core of the Long Point Biosphere Reserve, established in 1986 .

Around 450 people live there all year round. In the summer months the number rises to 5000 people who live in huts or camp. Long Point is very popular with water sports enthusiasts such as sailors, swimmers, anglers and canoeists. Every year around 100,000 tourists spend their summer holidays in the town.
