Longaméta

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Longaméta is a Hungarian ball sport ( batball game ), similar to the German batterball or the Romanian Oină .

It is played with a small ball and an approx. 60 cm long bat that is flattened at the bottom. The rectangular field is 20 m wide and, depending on the number of players, up to 80 m long. Similar to the German bat, the players have to run from the front to the back baseline and back again to score points while the opposing party tries to throw the runner off. If several runners are on the road at the same time, it is sufficient to discard one of them to prevent a point from being gained.

Special feature of this game: only the three hunters of each team named before the start are entitled to throw off opponents. Their teammates are only allowed to pass the ball to them.

A match is over when one party has achieved the previously agreed number of points.
