Lord Ardmannoch
Lord Ardmannoch was a hereditary British title of nobility awarded twice in the Peerage of Scotland .
Awards
The title was first created on May 15, 1565 for Henry Stewart, Lord Darnley , Prince Consort of Scotland, along with the parent title Earl of Ross . On July 20, 1565 he was also raised to Duke of Albany . After his murder in 1567, his son James inherited his title, who a few months later became Jacob VI. ascended the Scottish throne, merging the titles with the crown.
On January 23, 1600 the title was given to Charles Stuart , the second-born son of King Jacob VI. newly created. Along with the Lordship, he was awarded the titles of Duke of Albany , Marquess of Ormond and Earl of Ross . In 1625 Charles became king and the title merged with the crown.
