Lorentzen (family)
Lorentzen or Bie-Lorentzen is a Norwegian middle-class family of Danish origin. Several members are known as shipowners, merchants and industrialists.
Its members include the Industrial Erling Lorentzen , the Princess Ragnhild of Norway , eldest daughter of King Olav V was married. Erling Lorentzen was the founder of the Brazilian cellulose company Aracruz . Several members of the family are in line of succession to the throne of Great Britain; at the time of her death, Princess Ragnhild, Mrs. Lorentzen (as she was officially called) was number 75, and her children Haakon, Ingeborg and Ragnhild Lorentzen follow right after her.
A branch of the family whose members u. a. Shipowners in Grimstad have been called Bie-Lorentzen since the 19th century , as a double name with or without a hyphen.
Lorentzen is a common family name in Denmark and Norway, which should not be confused with other families.
