The National Civil Rights Museum at 450 Mulberry Street, Memphis, Tennessee , USA is located where the assassination attempt on Martin Luther King in 1968 took place .

The museum opened on September 28, 1991. The building, built in the early 1920s , was originally the Lorraine Motel , where Martin Luther King was staying when he was shot on April 4, 1968. The motel continued to operate until 1982. The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Foundation acquired the building and began setting up the museum in 1987.
