Lothar von Séez (* around 685 in Moselgau ; † June 15, 756 near Argentan ) was a Catholic bishop and saint.

Life

According to legend, St. Lothar, who probably came from Lorraine, was first a nobleman and a soldier before he retired to a monastery he founded near Argentan. In 725 he was appointed Bishop of Séez (today: Sées ) in Normandy by Pope Gregory II and was in charge of this diocese for more than 30 years. After his death, the monastery was named Saint-Loyer-des-Champs in his honor. His remains are kept there and in the cathedral at Sées.
