Lotio

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A lotio (also known as a shaking mixture) is a form of skin care product that can also be viewed as a liquid powder . It is a suspension or an emulsion with very little or no fat content.

The term is sometimes used as a synonym for lotion in the industry, but this is incorrect.

A typical example of a medicinal lotio is the zinc oxide shaking mixture ( Lotio alba aquosa ), in which zinc oxide and talc are suspended in a glycerol- water mixture. A more pronounced cooling effect can be achieved by adding ethanol ( Lotio alba spirituosa ).
