Lough Conn ( Irish Loch Con ) is the largest lake in County Mayo in the province of Connacht in Ireland . It covers about 57 km² and is very popular with fly fishers . With its immediate neighbor, Lough Cullin in the south, it is connected to the sea by the River Moy . Due to its stony banks, it has more of the character of a mountain lake. A number of islands (Annagh, Castle, Glass and Roe Island) lie south of the Errew Peninsula . Not far from its north bank is Crossmolina , a hiking paradise.
