Louis Lebel
Louis Lebel (* 1831 ; † October 1889 ) was a French organist , composer and music teacher .
Lebel studied from 1841 to 1849 at the Institut National des Jeunes Aveugles (INJA) from which he graduated with honors in the subjects of organ, violin and piano. He then went to the Conservatoire de Paris , where he was a student of François Benoist and Jacques Fromental Halévy .
He worked as a professor for organ and composition and from 1870 as orchestra leader at INJA. His most famous students were Adolphe Marty , Albert Mahaut and Louis Vierne .
From 1853 Lebel was organist at the Paris parish church of Saint-Étienne-du-Mont . He composed organ and orchestral works and several cantatas.
