Louis de Serres

Louis d'Arnal de Serres (* 1864 ; † 1942 ) was a French composer and music teacher.

De Serres studied from 1885 to 1888 at the Conservatoire de Paris with César Franck and Antoine Taudou . From 1900 he taught at the Schola Cantorum , whose founder and director was Vincent d'Indy . After d'Indy's death, de Serres, Marcel Labey , Guy de Lioncourt and others separated from the Schola Cantorum and in 1934 founded the École César Franck , of which de Serres became the first director. After his death, de Lioncourt succeeded him as director.

De Serres composed symphonic works, choral works and songs, as well as church music.
