Louise Bagnall

Louise Bagnall (* 1985 ) is an Irish animator. Her animated film Late Afternoon was nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film in 2019 .

Life

Bagnall grew up as the daughter of an architect with a sister. During her youth in Dublin , she also saw her parents take care of their grandparents. She attended Alexandra College . Louise Bagnall eventually studied animation at the Institute of Art, Design + Technology in her hometown. She originally chose animation because of her artistic interest, but eventually the storytelling aspect came to the fore.

Louise Bagnall works for Cartoon Saloon in Kilkenny . In 2002 her short animation film Donkey came out. The animated short film Loose Ends followed in 2013 . She was also on the animated films The breadwinner ( The Breatwinner ) and the television series Puffin rock involved and other projects of Cartoon Saloon.

Bagnall's short film Late Afternoon was released in 2018 . The film was inspired by her observations of grandparents in their youth. The film shows an elderly woman lost in her memories. The film was nominated for an Oscar in 2019, but had to admit defeat by Disney to Bao .
