history

Loxam, formerly a medium-sized company called SAM (Société Armoricaine de Matériels), was founded in 1967 in western France. As early as 1986, the company expanded with 44 branches. Gérard Déprez then became managing director of the group. In the following year, the color red is chosen for the company logo and for the vehicle fleet.

In 1994 the company name was changed to Loxam in order to establish itself internationally and to be able to present itself uniformly. 1996 Loxam Switzerland was founded. In 1997 Loxam was awarded the ISO 9001 certificate for quality management . This was followed by the start of the group's international expansion: Belgium and Germany (1999), Great Britain and Ireland (2000), Spain (2002), Luxembourg (2005), the Netherlands (2006) and Denmark (2007) are opened.

When the financial crisis affected the entire European construction sector from 2009 onwards , Loxam continued its business development as a generalist with further acquisitions (Locarest in France, Locamachine in Belgium and Stammis in the Netherlands). 2010 marks a new stage in the Group's development strategy: For the first time, Loxam moves outside of Europe and opens a branch in Morocco. The purchase of Dansk Lift at the end of 2013 (80 employees) with branches in Denmark, Sweden and Norway is a further step in the international development of the Loxam Group.

Today the Loxam Group is the number 1 construction machinery rental company in Europe with a rental fleet of more than 300,000 machines in 22 countries.
