Lucius 2: The Prophecy is an action adventure game from the Finnish developer Shiver Games from 2015. It is the sequel to Lucius .

background

development

The game is the successor to the horror adventure Lucius . It was announced on August 8, 2014 and released on Friday, February 13 , 2015. There is no translation into German because it is unclear whether the game, like its predecessor, will be indexed in Germany.

prehistory

Lucius, born on June 6, 1966, is the son of the devil. On his sixth birthday, his father revealed himself to him. On his behalf, Lucius killed his entire family including domestic staff in the first part. At the end of the game, the boy burned down his parents' house and was taken to a mental hospital .

action

The action starts directly with the predecessor. Lucius is a patient in the mental hospital called St. Benedict Memorial Hospital and has to cover his tracks, kill the last witnesses and finally go to the small town of Ludlow to fulfill his prophecy there. He gets help from Detective McGuffin , who saved him from the burning mansion.

At the beginning of the game, Lucius wakes up in his hospital room and has the desire to kill a nun who is treating him. That's why he was put in a cell and given an electric shock by a doctor . Because of these blows, he regains his diabolical abilities. Meanwhile, Detective McGuffin is visited by the devil, who assigns him to protect his son. While Lucius breaks out of psychiatry and kills many hospital employees, he learns that his father has another son named Isaac Gilmore . This causes terrible damage in Ludlow with his diabolical powers, which is why Lucius makes his way to the village. He finds out that his father Charles Wagner did not die in the fire, whereupon he kills him. With the help of the detective, he finally gets to Ludlow, where his brother is up to mischief. The boys now want to kill each other because both want to become the successors of the Antichrist . Lucius finds out that the only thing that can defeat Isaac is salt and kills him with a salt canister. Afterwards, while he tries to fulfill his prophecy, his brother gets up from the dead and tries to kill the protagonist with fireballs. However, he can defeat him again, which is why his father gives him the Holy Scroll , with which he comes to even more power. At the end of the game, Lucius learns that Lucifer has more sons whom he also wants to kill.

Gameplay

The player slips into the role of the eponymous boy Lucius. In a more or less fancy way, one gradually kills the mostly innocent staff of the hospital and their patients. To do this, the player has to solve puzzles and use the magical talent of the protagonist. As in the previous game, the plot is commented on by Detective MacGuffin , who is investigating the mysterious murder cases.

Lucius plays like a mixture between a classic point-and-click adventure and a third-person shooter and borrows from the Hitman series , but Schleich components are almost completely missing .

reception

Lucuis 2 received mostly mixed reviews. 4Players wrote of the game: "The story behind it is confused, lengthy and very predictable for anyone who has seen a horror movie or two," and gave it a 51% rating. On Metacritic , the game has a rating of 48 out of 100 possible points.
