Lucius Numerius Albanus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lucius Numerius Albanus was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD .

An inscription shows that Albanus 113 was the tribune of the Cohors V Vigilum . Two military diplomas, one of which is dated October 11, 127, prove that he was prefect of the Roman fleet stationed in Ravenna ( classis praetoria Ravennas ) from 121/122 to 127 ; this post was associated with an annual income of 200,000 sesterces .

Remarks

  1. Hans-Georg Pflaum, who did not yet know the diploma of 121/122, suspected that Albanus went through the following further steps in his career in the 14 years between 113 and 127: Tribune of a Cohors urbana and then a Cohors praetoria , a second Sometimes Primus Pilus and at least once, if not two or three times Procurator with an annual income of 200,000 sesterces. According to Barbara Pferdehirt , the diploma of 121/122 is proof that Albanus cannot have completed all the stages of this career ladder.
