It is possible that the name used mainly in French comes from a feminine form of Leutwin . This is of Germanic origin and is derived from the elements Leud (people / people) and win (friend). Saint Leutwin was a bishop of Trier in the 8th century, see Liutwin .

The female name Ludivine became known in the 1970s through a character in the television series " Les Gens de Mogador ".
