Andrew Foster-Williams

Andrew Foster-Williams (* 1973 in Wigan , Greater Manchester ) is an English opera singer (bass baritone).

Life

Andrew Foster-Williams studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London . He finished his studies with first class grades. Since then he has been a member of the Royal Academy. He has won many prizes, including the Opera Prize , the Flora Nielsen Recital Prize and the Elena Gerhardt Lieder Prize .

The Daily Telegraph named him "Newcomer of the Year" and wrote: "Andrew Foster-Williams is an impressively intelligent artist."

He has played Albert in Werther and Leporello for the Washington National Opera , Nick Shadow in The Rake's Progress for the Opéra National de Lorraine, Borée in Les Boréades at the Opéra National du Rhin , and Don Pizarro in Fidelio for the Opera North.

He has worked with some of the most famous orchestras, such as the London Symphony Orchestra , the Cleveland Orchestra and the Netherlands Philharmonic .

In 2009 he sang the role of Marco in the world debut recording of Saverio Mercadantes Virginia with the London Philharmonic Orchestra for the Opera Rara label.
