Since autumn 1997, the German Rifle Federation has been organizing a two-part first division (north and south) for the air rifle competition, each consisting of twelve teams and five second federal leagues (formerly regional leagues). In the 1st Bundesliga North and South, the preliminary round is held on six competition weekends from October to January. The best four teams in a group qualify for the Bundesliga final, which always takes place at the beginning of February. There you will fight in the knockout system (quarter and semi-finals, bronze match and grand final) up to the championship. The winner of the Bundesliga finals is the German air rifle team champion of the German Schützenbund eV and receives the coveted championship mirror for one year.

shoot

A team consists of five shooters who are in positions one to five based on the seeding list and who compete in "man-to-man" mode with the direct opponent of the opposing team. A competition consists of 40 shots, whole rings are scored, there is no tenth scoring. In the event of a tie, the athletes concerned must go to the shoot-off (jump-off). The piercing shot is given on command, the maximum time until the shot is fired is 50 seconds. The shooter with the higher shot value wins the duel. If there is a tie, more goofs follow. The first three are rated on full rings, from the fourth piercing shot the tenth rating applies.

This means that there are no ties in the highest German class in air rifle shooting, the games end 5: 0, 4: 1, 3: 2, 2: 3, 1: 4 or 0: 5. The winners get two points in the table, the losers get nothing.

It is a 10 meters from target shot whose center (10) has a diameter of only 0.5 millimeters. The following rings are each 2.5 millimeters apart. The aim is to hit the target in the center as possible. It is shot standing, hands-free, whereby the shooter must stand completely free (without any support or artificial supports). Compressed air rifles caliber 4.5 mm with a maximum weight of 5.5 kg and a maximum muzzle energy of 7.5 joules are used (details are described in the article air rifle ). The hits are evaluated on electronic systems, which means that they can be displayed in a way that is effective for the public via beamer and screens.
