Air intelligence barracks
The Luftnachrichtentruppen barracks were supposed to be built by Luftgaukommando XVII in Kalksburger Strasse at the corner of Rysergasse am Georgenberg in what is now the 23rd district of Vienna after the German troops marched in in 1938 , but it was not completed.
A barracks camp built next to the barracks burned down towards the end of the war and the Red Army used the partially completed building for residential purposes. In 1949 the building was demolished at the instigation of the Allies. At this place in 1976 were Wotrubakirche and 1997 the open-air Planetarium Sterngarten built. In place of the barrack camp there is now a large unobstructed forest clearing, which is partly used as a parking lot.
