Air transport attendant

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Air transport attendants are flight attendants of the German Air Force in the rank group of NCOs with portepee ( sergeant ). In addition to the normal tasks that the flight attendants of private airlines take on, they are able to react accordingly in special dangerous situations in the air and on the ground thanks to several military courses. However, their primary area of responsibility includes ensuring the safety and well-being of their passengers.

A total of around 130 air transport attendants work at the flight readiness of the Federal Ministry of Defense (as of 2013). Unlike the flight attendants of private airlines, an air transport attendant is not permanently assigned to an airline, but his assignment varies constantly.

They instruct them, for example, on how to carry out first aid or how to extinguish a fire on an airplane. After the training and then once a year, a so-called check flight takes place, during which the knowledge of the air transport attendants is checked.

The activity is only possible for soldiers on a temporary basis with a minimum employment period of at least 15 years.
