Luibis floors

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Luibisboden is an abandoned alpine pasture area below the Luibiskogel in the central Pitztal ( Tyrol / Austria).

On the western edge of the Luibis bottom is one of the most impressive stone settings ( cairns ) in the region. In contrast to the usual conical piles of stones up to one meter high, there are several cylinders formed from stone slabs over two meters high. Some are characterized by two sweeping stone slabs and are called stone women by the locals . In contrast to the piles of stones, which are mostly used for winter orientation, the number and the exposed location visible from the valley could indicate a rather cultic purpose. Lt. The age of the cairns is not known by oral reports from residents. They are maintained up to the present day (perhaps also in the sense of a Land Art ).
