Luigi Piattoli

Luigi Piattoli (* 1824 in Florence , † 1888 in Alexandria ) was an Italian engineer , architect and painter . He attended the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence . At the age of 20 he came to Alexandria, where he became the most important architect of the Said Pasha . Between 1863 and 1869 he lived again in Florence, but soon returned to Egypt to represent the Florence Chamber of Art, Industry and Commerce with buildings for the inauguration of the Suez Canal . He settled as a building contractor in Alexandria, where he died.
