Luigi Pulci
Luigi Pulci (* 1432 in Florence , † 1484 ) was an Italian poet who was promoted by Lorenzo de 'Medici .
Morgante maggiore
Pulci was best known for his epic Il Morgante maggiore . It is about the adventures of the giant Morgant and the half-giant Margutte. Because it showed little respect for Christian dogmas and Christian crusade ideology, it aroused massive objections from the church. In general, the work is more like a crude burlesque comedy with a slang note and is considered experimental among linguists.
In 1517 it was published in French, converted into a novel. A free translation into Alemannic published in 1530 is based on this version.
