Luiz Sérgio Duarte da Silva is a Brazilian historian and sociologist .

Silva studied history and received her PhD in sociology from the University of Brasília in 1996 . He made research stays at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria , at the Institute for Cultural Studies in Essen and at the National Autonomous University of Mexico . Today he is a professor at the Federal University of Goiás .

Silva is known for his works on urban modernism in Brazil and his aesthetic approach to Brasília . His most cited book is A construção de Brasília: modernidade e periferia .
