Lukas Einsele
Lukas Einsele (* 1963 in Essen ) is a German photographer and visual artist . He lives and works in Darmstadt .
life and work
Einsele first studied from 1982 to 1985 at the Free University of Berlin before he switched to studying photography at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences , which he graduated in 1991. He works primarily with photography, video and text. A central part of his work is the negotiation of memory as an act that creates images and narratives in which people position themselves and their environment. In his publication "Aesthetic Journalism: how to inform without informing", the Italian art historian Alfredo Cramerotti leads the artist's strategy between photography, journalism, archive work and interviews as part of an aesthetic practice, as also pursued by Walid Raad and Renzo Martens . His works have been presented in numerous institutional solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad. He has been a member of the Darmstadt Secession since 2015 .
