The Lundu is an old Afro-Brazilian folk dance in 2/4 time, which was accompanied by a guitar ( violão ), sometimes also by percussion music. Like Batuque, it is one of the forerunners of Samba , from which it has been supplanted, and one of the oldest Brazilian musical styles . The dance also became popular among the white middle class and can be considered the first national dance in Brazil.
