Luta do Bode

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Luta do Bode ( goat fight ) was a Brazilian martial art from the 19th century, which was also known under the name "dança do bode" ( goat dance ).

The argument between two fighters was like a fight between two billy goats. The opponents were only allowed to use their heads to attack and knock over the opponent. Often one of the two rivals had to leave the field with serious injuries. When attacking the enemy, head and head usually collided, which could even lead to the death of a fighter.

Luta do Bode had some influence on the Brazilian Capoeira movement.
