The Lutheran Church - Canada ( English Lutheran Church - Canada LCC , French Église luthérienne du Canada ) is an Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada with 53,165 (2018) parish members. It represents a more conservative theology than the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada , which has 114,432 (2015) parishioners.

history

The Lutheran Church - Canada was a member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod until 1988 . Like the Missouri Synod, it too came into being as a result of emigration in the 19th century. In 1988, the Canadian congregations of the Missouri Synod declared their independence and formed the Lutheran Church - Canada. The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and the Lutheran Church - Canada are in full church and sacrament fellowship. Both Lutheran churches work closely together in all areas of the church.

The Lutheran Church - Canada is synodal and presided over by a praeses whose seat is in Winnipeg . The church is divided into three dioceses, which are led by a diocesan praeses.
