from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) in Esch-Belval is a public institution for social research that has been operating independently since 1989 under the supervision of the Luxembourg Ministry of Education and Research .

In 1978, Gaston Schaber and six other researchers founded the Groupe d'étude pour les problemèmes de la pauvreté (GEPP) to conduct international comparative studies on poverty as part of the first EU poverty reduction program. In 1982 she became Ceps , three years later the research institute Center d'études de populations, de pauvreté et de politiques socio-économiques / International Network for Studies in Technology, Environment, Alternatives, Development (CEPS / INSTEAD). The institute was renamed the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) in 2015 following a legal reform .

Since then, LISER has acquired scientific expertise in data collection and quality control in this area. A special focus here is the transnational comparability of the data, which is also supported by the lively exchange in international research networks.
