From 2012 to 2016, Brynhildr in the Darkness followed , with Okamoto returning to the SF horror genre of Elfen Lied , as well as a similar basic plot. The work is about a student who one day meets a group of girls with superhuman abilities who have fled a secret research laboratory. With 18 volumes, this is his longest work. Elfen Lied , the short story collection Lynn Okamoto: Short Story Collection and Brynhildr in the Darkness were licensed in Germany by Tokyopop .
