Moderate speed

Moderate speed (according to the German StVO ) is a speed that is significantly reduced compared to the initial speed . According to § 8 Abs. 2 StVO, the person who has to observe the right of way should show in good time by moderate speed that he will wait.

This applies in Germany z. B. for vehicles when approaching level crossings and zebra crossings .

A distinction is to be made between the so-called walking pace , which u. a. must be observed when driving past buses.
