Meander (heraldry)

meander

Meanders are not very common in heraldry . Two variants can be found in coats of arms .

On the one hand, it is a geometric figure that adorns a herald's image and thus a special type of arabesque . In modern Russian coats of arms it is preferred to decorate beams , posts and borders .

The second form is accompanied by heraldic images, such as beams and stakes as a meander border . The representation is popular in French coats of arms. A meaning cannot be assigned to either form, it is just a heraldic whim.

The color scheme should always be different from the field color, observing the heraldic rule color / metal.
