The Médaille de la Famille ( French: “Order of the Family”) is an award given by the French government to parents who have raised several children “with dignity”.

history

The award was launched on May 26, 1920 under the name “Médaille d'honneur de la famille française” to promote the fathering of new children because of the dead in the First World War . There was a particularly shortage of young men. The order was donated by the French President . The Ministry de l'hygiène, de l'assistance et de la prévoyance sociales was responsible for implementation . Away from the pure number of children, but the children must also "with dignity" ( dignement have been raised). It must be proven that the children are in a "state of physical and mental hygiene" and have a "love of work and righteousness and a social and patriotic disposition".

There were similar orders with the Орден "Материнская слава" (order "Mother Glory ") in the Soviet Union and the Mother Cross in the German Empire.

Marie José Thollot is currently President of the Fédération Nationale de la Médaille d'honneur de la Famille française (National Association of the Order of Honor of the French Family).
