Métal Urbain is a French punk band from Paris .

history

Métal Urbain was founded in 1977 by Clode Panik (vocals), Eric Débris (synthesizer, e-drums), Herman Schwartz (guitar) and Pat Luger (guitar). After their first single Panik was only released in France, they were the first band to be released by the British independent label Rough Trade Records . Shortly before the recording of the first album Les hommes morts sont dangereux in December 1978, Clode Panik left the band and Débris took over the role of singer. From 1978 the band experimented with different styles of music, each operating under different band names: "Métal Urbain" stood for punk, "Metal Boys" for more melodic, electronic music and "Dr. Mix and the Remix ”for more experimental sounds. As Metal Boys and Dr. Mix and the Remix they released one album each. Métal Urbain separated in 1980.

Métal Urbain was revived in 2004 by the two original members Eric Débris and Herman Schwartz. In 2006 the band released their second album, J'irai chier dans ton vomi .

style

Métal Urbain was the first punk band to use a drum machine.
