Möderhof

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Möderhof is a wasteland and a former princely estate northeast of Deiningen and comprised almost 100 hectares of land and the associated "Möderholz" with around 150 hectares. It belonged to the Princely House of Wallerstein and was administered from there.

history

The north wing (residential building), built according to plans by Reinhard Ferdinand Heinrich Fischer 1784–1792, is a monument. The original building has been rebuilt several times. The current building dates from the first third of the 19th century.

From 1780 onwards the construction of an agricultural test farm was started, whereby the lands, which were considered barren, were to be made usable for arable farming. In 1781 drainage ditches were dug and in 1784 the farm building was built.

Clover, oats, barley, spelled, beets, winter rye, winter rape and hemp were grown; however, yields remained low despite intensive efforts. The plans to set up an agriculture school could not be implemented due to the high costs and were abandoned in 1861.

The Möderhof is privately owned and is still used for agriculture.
