Mill monument detail

The Nörvenich mill monument is located in Nörvenich in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Düren .

At the current location of a supermarket on Kastanienweg, there used to be the Untere Mühle , popularly also Badenheuer's Mühle . The first watermill was built in the 14th century. The last building was built in the 20th century. Other buildings belonged to the mill, such as a stable and a house . The privately owned mill ceased operations in the 1960s and was demolished in 2017. The local homeland and history association secured two of the four millstones and had them prepared as memorials . The building company of the hypermarket made an area available for the mill monument. On August 10, 2018, the memorial was inaugurated by the Mayor of Nörvenich, Timo Czech. It is reminiscent of the lower Nörvenich mill with its explanatory panels.
