Mill Gate (Stargard)
The mill gate (also port gate , water gate ; Polish Brama Młyńska , Portowa and Wodna ) in Stargard ( Stargard in Pomerania ) was built from brick in the middle of the 15th century .
With its unusual architecture, it is one of the city's landmarks . A rarity is the construction of the gate over the river Ihna (Mała Ina), which in the event of a defense could lower a portcullis into the river bed and protect the Stargard harbor located within the fortifications from intruders. However, the current created by the narrow wall of the river at this point provided sufficient protection. The two graceful towers with so-called Stargarder screens (original form on the Stargarder Marienkirche ) are also characteristic. The gate is currently the seat of the Stargard Association of Art Friends "Brama".
