Munich line

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Munich Line as a basic guideline for police action was developed by Georg Sieber (* 1935). Its development was partly triggered by the Schwabing riots in 1962, in which the appearance of the partly mounted police against demonstrators, which were initially largely peaceful, contributed to the escalation of the situation and the development of real street battles .

The aim of the line is to prevent conflicts from escalating only when the police appear in a closed formation or in any other martial, sensational manner. It uses the effect of the individual police officer as a group-forming trigger to strengthen social control for the purpose of promoting behavior in accordance with the law .
